Hamilton police are searching for two vehicles following a late night shooting in the city’s downtown core earlier this week.

In a release on Friday, police said the shooting happened just before 10 p.m. on Dec. 16 in a parking lot at 160 Main Street West, between Caroline and Hess streets.

Investigators determined that two vehicles had entered the parking lot and circled the area.

"It is believed that one vehicle discharged a firearm at the other before both vehicles fled the scene," police said.

Officers found bullet casings in the lot.

Police are looking for two suspect vehicles. One is described as an SUV and the other is described as a sedan. Both were seen leaving the area following the shooting.

No injuries have been reported, police said, no damage has been found and no victims or potential targets have come forward.

Detectives are urging the intended target, or anyone with information, to contact police at 905-546-4725 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
